Why the entry chip got two Neural Engines
That split is not a mistake, and it tells you what the mini is for. A Pro chip is sold to people who colour grade video and compile large projects, work that leans on CPU cores and GPU cores. The Neural Engine barely features.
The base mini is being sold as something else: a small box that sits on a desk and runs models locally. Apple spent its keynote time on on-device AI and on agents that automate work without a round trip to a data centre.
