Affiliate disclosure

Last updated 19 June 2026

How we keep the lights on

Future Technology is an independent tech publication. We don't run display ads, and we never will. Some of the links in our articles, reviews, and buying guides are affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. This is one of the ways we fund our reporting.

What that means for you

Buying through an affiliate link costs you nothing extra. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly. No fees are added, and no personal information about you is shared with us by the retailer as part of the transaction.

How affiliate links work

When we link to a product or service, the URL may contain a tracking code that identifies Future Technology as the referral source. If you purchase something after clicking that link (usually within a set window, often 24 hours), the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. The exact amount varies by programme and product category, but it is always paid by the retailer, not by you.

We participate in affiliate programmes including (but not limited to) Amazon Associates and other retail and technology partner programmes. When an article contains affiliate links, we note it clearly on the page.

Our editorial independence

Affiliate relationships have zero influence on what we cover, what we recommend, or how we score a product. Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial partnerships. If a product is not worth recommending, we will say so regardless of whether an affiliate programme exists for it.

We do not accept payment from manufacturers or retailers in exchange for favourable coverage. Sponsored content, when we publish it, is always labelled clearly and kept separate from editorial work.

Our buying guides aggregate findings from multiple independent reviewers and testing sources. We link those sources so you can check the evidence yourself.

How to spot an affiliate link

We aim to be transparent. Articles that contain affiliate links will include a disclosure notice, typically near the top of the page. The links themselves look and behave like any other link. If you would rather not use them, you can always search for the product directly on the retailer's website.

Compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) guidelines, as well as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. We believe readers deserve to know how the content they read is funded, and we are committed to making that clear.
