Anthropic is now valued above OpenAI, and the enterprise numbers back it up

Anthropic's post-money valuation now sits at roughly $965 billion. OpenAI's lands somewhere between $852 and $920 billion depending on which financing round you count. That ordering would have sounded absurd eighteen months ago.

Both are queuing for the public markets at once. Anthropic filed its draft S-1 on 1 June 2026 and is meeting investors ahead of a share sale that could land in September or early October. OpenAI filed confidentially on 9 June but has signalled the actual listing is further out.

The number that matters most is not the valuation. In Q2 2026 Anthropic took 32 percent of the enterprise LLM API market against OpenAI's 25 percent, the first time it has led that segment. Anthropic's 2026 annual recurring revenue estimate of roughly $47 billion is about double OpenAI's. OpenAI's Q2 revenue came in at $6.7 billion, up 18 percent quarter on quarter but short of expectations.

Why it matters: enterprise API share is contracted, sticky and painful to switch away from, which makes it a far better predictor of the next five years than consumer mindshare. Consumer attention is rented. And whoever lists first sets the comparable that every other AI company gets priced against.

Tool of the day: a big DDR5 kit

If the RTX Spark story landed, the cheap version of that idea today is simply more system RAM. A quantised 30 billion parameter model will run on CPU with 64GB, and 64GB of DDR5 costs a fraction of a GPU upgrade. Honest caveat: this is a patience purchase, not a speed one.
